OTTplay Awards 2025: Rahul Bhat bags the Best Supporting Actor (Male) for Black Warrant

Actor Rahul Bhat has garnered critical acclaim for his outstanding performance in the Netflix web series, Black Warrant, released in January 2025. The series is based on the book, 'Black Warrant: Confessions of a Tihar Jailer', written by Sunil Gupta and Sunetra Choudhury, about Gupta's time as a jailer at Tihar Prisons. Today, on March 22, Rahul Bhat wins the Best Supporting Actor (Male) accolade at the third edition of OTTplay Awards.

Rahul Bhat wins Best Supporting Actor (Male) for Netflix's Black Warrant

Black Warrant, which consists of seven episodes, takes the viewers back to the 1980s, offering a raw and unflinching look at life inside Tihar Jail through the perspective of Sunil Gupta, a young and idealistic jailer. As Gupta navigates the harsh realities of the prison system, he uncovers widespread corruption and injustice, forcing him to confront the darker side of the institution.

Rahul Bhat, who was presented the award by at the show that was hosted by Aparshakti Khurana and Kubra Sait, said, "Thank you OTTplay Award. I want to thank all the cast, director and everyone who all worked hard on the show. Thank you so much." The award was presented by Aditi Pohankar and Tanya Maniktala. 

Rahul Bhat played DSP Rajesh Tomar in the Black Warrant web series, which is a key figure within the Tihar Jail, serving as a senior officer and a mentor to the new jailer, Sunil Gupta (Zahan Kapoor). Bhat's portrayal showcased the challenges and moral ambiguities faced by those in positions of authority within the prison system.

OTTplay Awards 2025 also saw the who's who of Indian's OTT space turn up, celebrating the theme - 'One Nation, One Award'. Kajol, Jyotika, and others were also honoured at the shimmering award event, which has been held from film industries including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
