From K Dramas set to talk over our lives to an Oscar winning actress discussing intimate details about our sex life, this is an exciting week given what’s streaming across OTT platforms.
1. ONE MIC STAND – The show involves celebrities from different spheres like music, movies, and journalism, trying out comedy for the first time. Filmmaker Karan Johar, journalist Faye D'Souza, author Chetan Bhagat, actress Sunny Leone, and rapper Raftaar will be seen in the latest season. The show will be hosted by Sapan Verma and participating celebrities will be mentored by India's renowned comedians like Sumikhi Suresh, Samay Raina, Neeti Palta, Atul Khatri and Abish Mathew. Expect laughs and the thrill to see our favourite celebrities trying to make us laugh. It’s on Amazon Prime Video.
2. RATHNAN PRAPANCHA – “The truest embodiment of a goddess that I’ve witnessed is... My mother,” we hear Rathnakara say. Directed by Rohit Padaki it’s a must watch family drama that will tug at your heart strings. Rathnakara is an insurance agent living a rather boring life with his unapologetically loud but doting mother Saroja. His mother is on the quest to find a bride for her son, which only seems to be creating more problems. But things change soon enough and Rathnakara’s life turns ‘upside down.’ Accompanied by Mayuri, a journalist (played by Reba Monica John), he sets on a journey to rediscover his roots. A literal and metaphorical journey towards self discovery. Dhananjay and Umashree and the whole ensemble shine. You can watch it on Amazon Prime Video.
3. ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING - On Disney+ Hotstar you can now watch the American mystery comedy Only Murders in the Building. Created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman has 10 episodes and premiered on 31 August on Hulu. We follow three strangers, played by Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez, who share an obsession with a true-crime podcast. Steve Martin is Charles Haden Savage, a former television star; Martin Short is Oliver Putnam, a currently unsuccessful Broadway director; and Selena Gomez, the young woman whose history becomes a crucial element in solving the crime. Comedy, chemistry and murder mystery, this is a must-watch. With a cliffhanger ending, we know a season 2 will definitely be on its way.
4. SEX, LOVE & GOOP – Well Oscar winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow wants to talk to us about our sex lives. That’s really is what its about. A six-episode reality series where couples talk about their intimate struggles and desires and journey towards more pleasurable sex with the help of Gwyneth Paltrow and a team of experts. Everything from psychedelics, cold therapy, female pleasure, anti-aging, energy healing and psychics can be found here. Watch it on Netflix.
5. K DRAMAS ON AMAZON PRIME – Be it music, shows or food South Korea is taking us all on culturally. And given the huge interest around all things Korean Amazon Prime Video has lauch quite a few K-Dramas. True Beauty that dwells on the classic makeover of a young high school girl, bullied for her appearance, Strangers from Hell that will transport the viewers to a dingy apartment building with shady neighbours and a series of mysterious events, and the new season of a high-octane action-packed series, Taxi Driver featuring Lee Je-Hoon and Esom. While the saga of the supernatural will continue with Lee Dong-Wook and Cho Bo-Ah starrer Tale of the Nine Tailed, Hotel Del Luna will introduce a mix of eeriness and a gripping plot line.
