ANKAHI KAHANIYA

There is a lot to be excited about this latest Netflix offering. Three top directors - Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, Abhishek Chaubey and Saket Chaudhury come together for this one hour 50 min long anthology which promises to look at love, longing and relationships from a refreshing new perspective. The three short films boast of acting talent sure to keep the proceedings buoyant with the likes of Rinku Rajguru, Abhishek Banerjee, Zoya Hussain, Kunal Kapoor, Delzade Hiwale among others all ready to showcase their distinct wares. While Tiwari’s film showcases a man’s love for a mannequin, Abhishek Chaubey’s film explores how a young girl is trying to find an escape from her harsh realities and Saket Chaudhury delves deep into the institution of marriage and its fragile bond. 

ANABELLE SETHUPATHI

Vijay Sethupathi and Taapsee Pannu come together for this Tamil language film which has been dubbed in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi where it is called Anabelle Rathore. Directed by Deepak Sundarrajan this horror-comedy is about a raja who made a huge haweli for his lady love. From 1948 the action shifts to the present day where the palace is a haunted house. From the trailer, it appears to be packed with enough laugh-out-loud moments to keep the blues away. You can watch it On Disney+ Hotstar.

SEX EDUCATION SEASON 3

For die-hard fans, the wait is finally over. Season three of the much-loved show is out. The opening montage brings us up to date with what’s happening with our favourite characters. Eric (Ncuti Gatwa) and Adam (Connor Swindells) are together. Jean is pregnant and Otis and Maeve are still estranged. We have a new headteacher Hope and Jemima Kirke is on a mission 'to get Moordale back on track'. The deft handling of sensitive issues, the many hilarious sequences that keep us entertained along the diversity of the show continue to be its strength. There is a strong hint that there could be a season four but for now, you can watch all eight episodes on Netflix. 

EVERYBODY'S TALKING ABOUT JAMIE

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie follows the life of 16-year-old schoolboy Jamie New who is keen to pursue a career as a drag queen. He doesn’t quite fit in and instead of opting for a traditional career wants to follow his dreams. His friends and family are supportive but Jamie must find the courage to overcome the many hurdles that come in his way. Arousing and colourful musical it has been directed by Jonathan Butterell and played on screen by a stellar cast that includes Max Harwood, Lauren Patel and Sarah Lancashire, Adeel Akhtar and Richard E. Grant. You can find it on Amazon Prime Video.

SCHUMACHER

This new Netflix documentary focuses on seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher through exclusive interviews and archival footage. Under two hours long, it elaborates on his ground-breaking career and life after the near-fatal skiing accident in 2013. From revealing his humble beginnings to how he loved being the life of every party, his dreams and fears Schumacher is an intimate portrait of his much-loved icon. Close friends, associates including his wife Corrina speak lovingly about his racing career and dealing with life post the tragedy.
