Versatile actress Aishwarya Rajesh, who has had a slew of releases recently - Driver Jamuna, The Great Indian Kitchen and Run Baby Run- has been honoured with the Inspiring Performer of the Year (Female) title at the prestigious OTTplay Changemakers Awards 2023 tonight.

The glittery award ceremony took place at JW Marriott (Juhu), Mumbai, which was attended by the who’s who of the Indian film fraternity.

Aishwarya Rajesh is someone who has never shied away from experimenting with her acting prowess. Her repertoire includes a wide range of roles - be it Attakathi, Rummy, Kaaka Muttai, Dharma Durai, Vada Chennai, Ka Pae Ranasingam and Thittam Irandu to name a few. She also took the plunge into digital space with the thriller Suzhal: The Vortex. The actress while receiving the award also doled out some Tamil lessons.

Her latest outing Run Baby Run directed by Jiyen Krishnakumar, has the actress playing a medical student who would go any length in pursuit of justice for her friend. The film, which starred RJ Balaji in a serious role for the first time, was loved by the audience. In Driver Jamuna, she played a cab driver for the first time in her career and her performance in the film received rave reviews. The crime thriller with many twists and turns was directed by P Kinslin. She was also seen in the Tamil remake of the Malayalam film The Great Indian Kitchen.

The ‘Inspiring Performer of the Year (Female)’ award is conferred on her in recognition of the remarkable characters that she has played in the past year. The ‘OTTplay Changemakers Awards 2023’ intend to honour and celebrate the groundbreakers and trendsetters of the entertainment industry. With Indian cinema on the cusp of remarkable transitions, it’s pertinent to honour and boost the confidence of those young minds that are bringing about the change. It’s the first edition of the awards ceremony.
