Music producer-composer and social media personality Yashraj Mukhate - who rose to fame in 2020 with a parodical video, in which he had added rap beats to a scene, Rasode Main Kaun Tha, from the television soap opera Saath Nibhaana Saathiya - has bagged the ‘Innovation in New Media’ title at the prestigious OTTplay Changemakers Awards 2023 tonight. TThe glittery award ceremony - which took place at JW Marriott (Juhu), Mumbai - which was attended by the who’s who of the Indian film fraternity.
Among his other works is a song that he made out of Shehnaaz Gill’s dialogue from Bigg Boss. Released in December 2020, the track became an instant hit on the internet, clocking more than 70 million views eventually. Even Deepika Padukone danced to Yashraj’s version of the Sadda Kutta Tommy rap with Ranvir Singh on his birthday. Later, he created a track, Pawri Ho Rahi Hai, from a viral video of a Pakistani girl, named Dananeer Mobeen. The video was released in February 2021.
While speaking at a recent event, Yashraj said that it is easier to experiment with content when the target audience group is small, as it also helps one develop their craft. According to the music content creator, the only way to stay relevant is by improving one’s skills.
The ‘OTTplay Changemakers Awards 2023’ intend to honour and celebrate the groundbreakers and trendsetters of the entertainment industry. With Indian cinema on the cusp of remarkable transitions, it’s pertinent to honour and boost the confidence of those young minds that are bringing about the change. It’s the first edition of the awards ceremony.
