OTTPlay Exclusive! 83 actor Nishant Dahiya: My life has not been rosy after my debut film Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge

We all remember Nishant Dahiya as this cute next-door boy in the film Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge. After making a debut in the campus drama a decade ago, the promising talent was rarely seen on big screens. He then played a lead role in the 2014 Hindi-Punjabi film Titoo MBA and 2020 film Raat Akeli Hai, alongside Nawazzudin Siddiqui. He was also seen in the 2017 film Meri Pyaari Bindu which starred Ayushmann Khurrana and Parineeti Chopra. The actor will now be playing the role of Roger Binny in the upcoming sports drama 83, which stars Ranveer Singh. When OTTplay asked him the reason why he was not seen in too many films or series in the last decade after his debut in 2011, he said it was not that he was not offered projects, but he is just too selective of what he does.

In an exclusive interview with OTTplay, the actor opened up about his rare appearances on screen and what are the factors that excite him to pick a project. Nishant said, "I have always been selective of what I do. It is not that I have not been offered projects. I believe in quality over quantity. If I don't find anything exciting for me, I'd rather be at home and do what I enjoy doing. I don't want to do things just for the sake of doing it." He added that he would like to be satisfied when he looks back on his journey as an actor and he is. 

He added that he is satisfied with the journey he's had and would not have wanted it any other way. "It has been a rollercoaster ride after Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge. My life has not been rosy. I have had my share of struggles, ups and downs and they have only made me more grounded and humble. I am grateful for the kind of journey I have had. I don't think I would like to have it any other way. God and people have been kind to me," he said. 

So what is it that excites him in a project? He said he looks at the team he'd get to work with and the character. "I don't care much about the length of a character. It just needs to be challenging for me to do it, something that makes me nervous and gives me jitters when I read about it. If it is an easy character and I don't feel it in my bones, I don't take it," he said.   

The actor will now be seen playing the role of a fast bowler Roger Binny in the film 83. The Kabir Khan directorial releases in theatres on December 24.
