Many felt a pang of nostalgia when they saw the face of Daniel Lecho on screen; it was a familiar one. All of the series hinge on Prashant Tamang's performance.

Prashant Tamang: From Nepali cinema to Indian Idol

The Nepali cinema industry is well-known for its star Prashant, who was born in Darjeeling, West Bengal. His 2010 film, Gorkha Paltan, was a commercial success, and it was also his acting debut. Later films starring him were Angalo Yo Maya Ko, Kina Maya Me, Nishani, Pardesi, and Ye Maya Hanima. In addition, Prashant appeared as a special guest on the Hindi TV show Amber Dhara.

Tragically, Prashant Tamang's father, Madan Tamang, passed away in a car crash. Following his father's passing, Prashant forewent further education and assumed the role of policeman in the Kolkata Police. Prashant juggled multiple roles in the Kolkata Police Department, including that of constable and member of the police orchestra.

Everyone from Prashant's subordinates to his seniors thought his singing was great. He credits them with inspiring him to audition for Indian Idol. He made it to the next round of Indian Idol 3 after his audition. Prashant stood alone among the competitors in never having finished lower than third.

Prashant, whose voice lulled listeners to relaxation, eventually finished in second place, behind only Amit Paul. He had not been very popular at the start. Prashant beat out Amit in the season three finale of Indian Idol by a whopping 70 million votes. A Maruti Suzuki SX4 was his prize in addition to the money.

New chapter in music and film

In the wake of his victory on Indian Idol 3, Prashant Tamang released the Nepali and Hindi album Dhanyavad. In addition, he went on a globe tour and played at a number of shows. In addition to this, he has provided his voice for a handful of Nepali films.
