Malayalam actress Navya Nair marked her return to the silver screen after a short hiatus with Paathirathri, which is now set to make its digital premiere on Zee5 via OTTplay Premium. The film, also starring Soubin Shahir and helmed by Ratheena PT, had opened to mixed reviews. Still, the film warrants a watch on streaming for its director, cast and interesting plot. Before Paathirathri makes its OTT debut on February 19, 2026, here’s a look at why you need to watch Navya Nair’s Malayalam cop film on streaming.

Paathirathri marks the second directorial venture of Ratheena PT who made a confident debut with the film Puzhu, which starred Mammootty. Puzhu, a psychological drama revolving around a brother and sister, was unlike the typical Malayalam films. Though Paathirathri is billed as a cop drama movie, we are sure to be a different take with a female filmmaker behind the camera.

Navya Nair, one of the popular actresses during the 2000s, was last seen in the 2023 film Janaki Jaane. But before that, she was seen in Oruthee, delivering an impressive performance as a housewife seeking to get justice after her gold chain was stolen. In Paathirathri, she turns into a cop, and it would be interesting to see how Navya would play the role, adding nuances.

Actor Soubin Shahir plays the other lead role in the film, again a cop. Soubin has previously appeared in a number of cop films, including the award-winning Ela Veezha Poonchira. Both Soubin and Navya are noted actors, complementing each other's performances. They are well supported by other actors Sunny Wayne, Ann Augustine and Harisree Ashokan. Shabareesh Varma and Indrans are also part of the cast.
The plot of Paathirathri movie revolves around the happenings one midnight (Paathirathri in the title), which have a direct link to the cops - SI Jancy and Constable Hareesh. How they deal with the situation and how it even affects their personal lives are depicted in the Ratheena PT movie. The film explores themes of duty, loyalty and power dynamics in the police force.
