Pachinko S2 episode 2 was about Lee Min-ho's Han-su doing everything to rescue Kim Min-ha's Sun-ja. The episode saw a devastating ending with her leaving her dead husband without something as basic as proper cremation. Episode 3 begins from the point where Sun-ja and Han-su reunite and live under the same roof. But not all is jolly because their son Noa (Kang Tae-ju), who doesn't even know that he is their son, is uncomfortable with the whole arrangement. Here's what happened in the most recent episode from the K-drama airing on Apple TV+, and what you can expect from the next...
It is the situation of war in Japan, but Ko Han-su wants to do everything in his power to protect Sun-ja, and she wants to take care of her kids before everything. They all stick together and live in what could be described as a random structured place that has a strong roof over its head. It is their safe house as Japan faces constant bombings.
Sun-ja brings her friend Kyung-hee along, but she is skeptical - living with a man under the same roof while her husband is away is something she didn't wish for. However, they would end up dead sooner than later if they choose Tokyo camps over their current stay. So, Kyun-hee caves.
Kyun-hee is not the only one who is not comfortable with the situation. Noa, who could not even see his father have proper last rites, is uncomfortable with the whole situation. Being the illegitimate son of Sun-ja and Han-su (he is unaware of it), Noa is not as warm to Han-su as Sun-ja's second son, Mozasu.
Seeing the whole situation, Sun-ja strongly draws the line with Han-su. She reminds him of being absent for 14 years, and thus, he cannot expect normalcy, like nothing happened over those years.
Solomon is on the last stage of getting revenge on Abe and Shiffley. With Tom taking the bait and striking a deal with Solomon, he could get back up in business.
Solomon's love life also takes a turn, for Naomi asks Solomon out, and they can share a dinner at a roadside hawker, which is what Solomon can afford given his current situation. Things could, however, take a turn since she works at a bank, and things could either get great or messy.
Kyung-hee is uncertain about her situation because her husband does not show up, and the air raids keep multiplying. Kyung-hee joins Han-su, Noa and Mozasu on a stakeout to find out who has been stealing eggs from their ration. It is a Japanese boy who was bullying Noa. He stole the eggs to be able to feed 20 people living together. While Mozasu believes Noa should take revenge, Noa let him go because of the lesson he believes his father Issac taught him. Han-sun tells Mozasu that Noa is aware that it is best to have an enemy owe you. Whether this moment leads to Han-su and Kyung-hee coming closer to the point that they have an affair, remains to be seen.
