Kamal K.M’s Pada, starring Kunchacko Boban, Joju George, Dileesh Pothan and Vinayakan in the lead, hit theatres on March 11. The movie, which received good reviews, is now set to make its digital premiere.
The hostage drama, which is based on true events, is set to be released on Amazon Prime Video. The streaming platform shared the news with the fans through its social media handles. The streamers also revealed release dates for Tovino Thomas’ Naradhan and Shane Nigam’s Veyil.
The movie Pada is based on the true story of a group of members in Palakkad, who identified themselves as Ayyankali Pada. They had barged into the collector’s chamber and held him hostage in protest against the amendment of the Adivasi Land Act by the Kerala government.
Written and directed by Kamal K.M., the movie also stars Prakash Raj, Unnimaya Prasad, Arjun Radhakrishnan, Indrans, Salim Kumar and Jagadish, among others. With cinematography by Sameer Thahir, the movie has music by Vishnu Vijay and is edited by Shan Mohammed.
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap also recently took to social media to hail the film, and called it ‘Malayalam’s Dog Day Afternoon’.
“Cinematographer Sameer Thahir hasn’t resorted to any gimmicks here and rather gives the audience a fly-on-the-wall perspective, by keeping it simple. Vishnu Vijay’s background score aids this,” reads the film’s review on OTTplay.
Pada, which has already been receiving love from the Malayali audience and critical acclaim, is set to start streaming on Amazon Prime Video on March 30.
