Padakkalam set to release in GCC countries, Suraj Venjaramoodu's latest film gets more screens in the UAE

Malayalam's latest film, Padakkalam, is all set to hit the big screens in the GCC soon. The fantasy drama will have a theatrical release in the Gulf countries, except Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, on May 15.

The film, which is directed by Manu Swaraj, is having a theatrical premiere in the UAE, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain a week after its release in Kerala. Although there are several small issues, the audience's reaction is varied, with many praising a good entertainment with fantasy aspects. Padakkalam, which has a body-swapping concept at its core, has a few funny moments, but its lacklustre screenplay makes it a mediocre movie. Padakkalam is running in theatres along with Asif Ali's Sarkeet and Dileep's Prince and Family.

All about Suraj Venjaramoodu's Padakkalam

Manu Swaraj marks his directorial debut with this film. Suraj Venjaramoodu and Sharaf U Deen play the lead roles in Padakkalam. While Sharaf U Deen appeared in the recent Malayalam films, Bougainvillea and Level Cross, Suraj was seen performing in a prominent role in L2: Empuraan and Veera Dheera Sooran. Sandeep Pradeep, Arun Ajikumar, and Saaf Bros are also playing pivotal roles in this film. Niranjana Anoop is playing the female lead. Her latest movie, The Secret of Women, is now available on Sun NXT and OTTplay Premium.

Even though Ranjith and Shaji both eye the head of the department's chair at their college, the students unanimously support the latter because they have a friendly connection with him. Shaji gets the job, but his coworkers quickly pick up his bizarre behaviour, so he is sent on leave. Meanwhile, Jithin, one of their students, discovers that Ranjith, who is skilled in dark magic, is the cause of Shaji's strange behaviour. When Jithin and his friends take Ranjith's Pachisi set, which bestows the black magic powers on him, their lives take an unexpected twist. Their efforts to unravel the mess are form the crux of the film. Padakkalam is produced by Vijay Babu and Vijay Subramaniam.
