Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly’s socio-political thriller Padavettu is gearing up for its OTT release. The movie, which first went on floors in 2019, had hit theatres a month ago. Starring Nivin Pauly, Indrans, Remya Suresh and Aditi Balan, Padavettu is directed by debutant Liju Krishna.

The movie revolves around Ravi, a promising athlete whose life turns upside down after he meets with an accident. He turns apathetic to everything that happens around him. How a political party’s ‘favour’ to his family finally makes him find his own voice and rebuilt his confident to be defiant in the face of all odds, form the story of this socio-political drama, which also has Shammi Thilakan in a pivotal role.

While the movie itself had faced a lot of challenges before it finally hit theatres, Nivin in an earlier interview had told us that he was happy about how the audience have received its unusual storytelling format.

“I think our audience wants to see something different from the usual patterns. Our aim was to make a commercial film but with different elements. How Liju had conceived certain scenes blended organically to the movie; the sound design as well as how music has been was able to bring some novelty to the movie. A lot of people praised my performance as well as the movie, especially the climax sequence,” he said.

The actor also talked about how he got into the skin of the character, for which he had to gain a few pounds. Nivin said to get into Ravi’s headspace, he had several discussions with its director Liju. The movie’s OTT rights have been bagged by Netflix, which is set to stream the film on the platform from November 25.
