Even as people will be busy following the FIFA World Cup, the final week of November has enough Malayalam movies to keep film audiences entertained. At least six major releases including Nivin Pauly’s Padavettu, Unni Mukundan’s Shefeekkinte Santosham, Antony Varghese’s Aanaparambile World Cup and Priya Prakash Varrier’s 4 Years are releasing in theatres and OTTs.

From coming-of-age movie and family drama to a campus romance and fantasy sports film, there’s a film in every genre that is sure to suit the tastes of a diverse audience. Here’s the complete list of movies that you can watch this weekend.

Padavettu

Release platform: Netflix

Nivin Pauly plays Ravi, whose dreams were sent crashing after he had met with an accident. Years later, he lives isolated and frustrated. But a political party’s intervention at his cost, finally makes him ready to step up and reclaim all that he has lost.

Shefeekkinte Santosham

Release platform: Theatre

Shefeek is someone who finds joy in spreading happiness, but he also has his own insecurities. How he tackles these and finds content, form the plot of this comedy entertainer, helmed by Anup Pandalam. Unni Mukundan, Bala, Divya Pillai and Athmiya Rajan play the lead characters.

Aanaparambile World Cup

Release platform: Theatre

A group of young schoolboys seek help to play football. A couple of men step up and offer them help and train them for an U-14 football tournament in this children’s sports film, which has a tinge of fantasy. The movie stars Antony Varghese, Balu Varghese and Lukman Avaran.

Autorickshawkarante Bharya

Release platform: Manorama Max

After realising that her husband and autorickshaw driver Sajeevan has no intention of abandoning his lazy ways even after marriage, his wife Radhika takes it upon herself to motivate him and also make ends meet. Ann Augustine and Suraj Venjaramoodu star in this family drama.

4 Years

Release platform: Theatre

Director Ranjith Sankar’s romantic drama revolves around the journey of its protagonists Gayathri and Vishal, who have contrasting personalities but have been in and out of love during the four years of their college life. The duo tries to find closure in their relationship, while wishing the final day doesn’t end. Priya Prakash Varrier and Sarjano Khalid play the leads in the film.

Padochone Ingal Katholi

Release platform: Theatre

The political satire, starring Sreenath Bhasi, Ann Sheetal and Grace Antony, revolves around a schoolteacher in North Kerala and the various incidents that happen within his village that shape his life. The comedy is directed by Bijith Bala.
