After the crime comedy 1744 White Alto, director Senna Hedge has begun work on his latest venture – a fun comedy entertainer starring Kunchacko Boban. The movie, which is titled Padmini, was earlier announced with Aparna Balamurali as the female lead, but now reports suggest that Premam actress Madonna Sebastian too is part of the cast.

The movie went on floors in Kollengode, Palakkad, a few days ago and Kunchacko joined the sets on Tuesday. Scripted by Kunjiramayanam fame Deepu Pradeep, who had also written the additional screenplay for Tovino Thomas’ Ajayante Randam Moshanam, the movie is touted to be an all-out entertainer that Kunchacko had said would “ease up your hard life”.

The team was supposed to begin shooting the movie by mid of 2021, but the monsoon played spoilsport and delayed the shoot. Kunchacko also got busy with other projects including Tinu Pappachan’s action-thriller Chaaver.

In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Senna had said that Padmini is a much bigger film compared to Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam and 1744 White Alto. “Padmini, with its star power, is a big project with Kunchacko Boban and also Jakes Bejoy doing the music. I have known the producers and they are also aware of the way I work. One of the first things I put forth is my criteria and we make sure we agree or at least meet halfway,” he said.

On how the project took shape, the filmmaker said that its writer Deepu had been trying to get the movie made for a few years now. “Later, I was invited to be part of it,” he said, adding that he enjoyed the premise but suggested a few changes that he wanted to incorporate. “Now, it has turned into a pretty cool entertainer, a no-nonsense, fun film that will put a lot of smiles on people’s faces,” he added.
