What is Padmini about?
Padmini has Kunchacko Boban, in an old chocolate hero avatar which he essayed in the 90s movies. The film tells the tale of a college lecturer who faces an embarrassing situation after his wife elopes, on their marriage day. Vincy Aloshious plays the wife character of Kunchacko Boban in this comedy drama. It is the second movie in which Vincy and Kunchacko share the screen after their previous film Bheemante Vazhi.
Besides being a comedy-drama, the film also serves as a humorous take on society. Padmini is the third directorial venture of Senna Hegde and stands out from his other movies. His Thinkalazhcha Nishachayam was treated as a satire while the 1744 Alto was a quirky experimental one. When It comes to Padmini, he attempted a traditional comedy-drama with all the elements required for a commercial movie.
In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Senna had said the script of Padmini came to him after it was rejected by many directors. Sreeraj Raveendran shot the film, while Manu Antony has taken care of editing. Jakes Bejoy composed the songs of Padmini in which Kunchacko Boban has sung the song, Love You Muthe.
The film is bankrolled by Suvin K Varkey under the banner of Little Big Films and Earlier, the producer had alleged that Kunchacko Boban despite receiving a remuneration of 2.5 crore did not turn up for the movie promotions. All the other cast and crew of the film did not respond to the controversy between the producer and the actor.
