Pick from feel-good movies starring Kunchacko Boban, Navya Nair and Bhavana this weekend

The monsoon season has not been kind to the Malayalam film industry, with multiple anticipated films shifting their release date due to the predicted rains. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t enough movies out there for the audience to watch, in the comfort of their homes or even in theatres.
The biggest release in Kerala theatres is a Sivakarthikeyan-starrer, Maaveeran, in terms of the number of the scale but Kunchacko Boban has time and again proved that he is dependable when it comes to box office numbers. His latest film Padmini, which was supposed to hit theatres last week, is finally releasing this Friday, and that too without any competition as Dileep’s Voice of Sathyanathan has been pushed to July 28.

Kunchacko Boban teams up with Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam director Senna Hegde and Kunjiramayan writer Deepu Pradeep for this fun romcom that also stars Aparna Balamurali, Madonna Sebastian, Vincy Aloshius and Ganapathy. The movie revolves around a college lecturer and the incidents he faces because of the women he meets.

Bhavana’s comeback movie in Malayalam is another feel-good film that also has Sharafudheen and Anarkali Nazar in the lead. The movie revolves around Jimmy, who faces pressure to get settled in life. This leads him to meeting Fida and finally deciding to get married. However, a chance encounter with his first love Nithya, has him reevaluating his decision and relationship with Fida.
Janaki Jaane
Release platform: Disney+ Hotstar
Director Aniesh Upaasana’s latest directorial, which features Navya Nair and Saiju Kurup in the lead, revolves around its titular character, who fears dark. This forces her to spend her days at home and in the company of her mother. But after Unni Mukundan enters her life and the duo gets married, they face an incident due to her phobia, which is then used by a politician for his gain. How Janaki overcomes her fear form the plot of the film.
