Sajin Gopu and Anaswara Rajan joining hands for a movie, titled Painkili, in lead roles was an announcement that caught many of us by surprise. Apart from posters with quirky oneliners, nothing much has been revealed about the upcoming Malayalam movie. Now, the makers have given us a glimpse into the world of Painkili with a trailer that rings with a certain level of eccentricity and is quite unpredictable.
The Painkili trailer begins with people talking about a mentally ill person, with his mother saying that nobody will understand her predicament. The trailer then cuts to introduce Anaswara Rajan as she climbs down a pole. Her aim seems to be to get away, as she shoots down the suggestion of eloping after falling in love.
Another girl then advises her about the various steps of falling in love, as the leading lady gets down to the business of finding the lover by perfecting her smile and pose.
More characters such as Chandu Salimkumar, and Riyas Khan enter the picture as Sajin Gopu drifts into the bubble of a dreamy world.
Anaswara Rajan, who was seen in a more subdued avatar in the recent hit film Rekhachithram, goes all out in Painkili. Clumsy movements and freakish expressions seem to be the norm in the world of Painkili, which has literally let loose its characters.
Sajin Gopu, who was endearing as Ranganna's Amban from Fahadh Faasil-starrer Aavesham, seems to be exploring a different level of eccentricity in the film.

Notably the trailer also features acclaimed director Lijo Jose Pellissery, who adds to eccentric tone of the trailer.
Anaswara Rajan and Sajin Gopu headline this film, which is produced by Aavesham director Jithu Madhavan and Fahadh Faasil. Sreejith Babu is the director of this Malayalam film, which definitely aims to narrate an outlandish tale.
The Painkili trailer has definitely caught our attention and we are waiting to see what Sreejith Babu and his team will be offering us this Valentine's Day!
Painkili releases in theatres on February 14, 2025. Two other Malayalam films are also releasing on V-day in Kerala theatres, adding to the celebratory atmosphere. Antony Varghese Pepe’s actioner Daveed and Arjun Ashokan-starrer Bromance are the other two films that would compete with Anaswara Rajan and Sajin Gopu's Painkili at the box office.
