Pakalum Pathiravum release date: When, where to watch Kunchacko Boban, Rajisha Vijayan’s thriller

Director Ajai Vasudev, who is known for his ‘mass’ action entertainers such as Rajadhi Raja and Shylock, is turning a new leaf with scriptwriter’s Nishad Koya’s Pakalum Pathiravum, which has Kunchacko Boban and Rajisha Vijayan in the lead.

The movie, which went on floors after the pandemic lockdowns in Kerala, was completed in a single schedule. Apart from the lead actors, the film also has Manoj KU, Guru Somasundaram, Seetha and Jagadish in pivotal roles.

What is the story of Pakalum Pathiravum?

The movie has Kunchacko Boban essaying the role of a wildlife photographer, who decides to travel to Mysore through a road leading into the forest. His journey makes him cross path with a family in the village, who have their own intent. What happens when the two parties meet form the plot of the movie, which marks Kunchacko’s fifth collaboration with Nishad Koya after Ordinary, Madhura Naranga, Shikhari Shambu and Polytechnic.

The movie apparently is also inspired by the story of Kannada writer-director Dayal Padmanabhan’s Aa Karaala Ratri, which was released in 2018 and starred Karthik Jayaram and Anupama Gowda in the lead. Aa Karaala Ratri was based on Rupert Brooke’s play Lithuania, which was also adapted by acclaimed thespian NN Pillai as Dam in Malayalam.

When and where to watch Pakalum Pathiravum?

Ajai Vasudev’s Pakalum Pathiravum is all set to hit theatres on March 3 along with Rajisha Vijayan’s period campus drama Lovefully Yours Vedha, which also has Gautham Vasudev Menon, Venkitesh and Anikha Surendran. Pakalum Pathiravum’s OTT rights have already been sold. ZEE5 has bagged the streaming rights of the film, which is expected to release on the platform in April.

Incidentally, ZEE5 has also bought the rights for Antony Varghese’s comedy drama Poovan and Arjun Ashokan, Mamitha Baiju and Anaswara Rajan’s Pranaya Vilasam. The former is expected to drop on the platform on March 10.
