Ever since its announcement, there’s been a lot of curiosity about Basil Joseph-starrer Palthu Janwar, and its latest promo song titled Palthu Fashion Show, promises a delightful experiment featuring animals with the central character Mollykutty being a cow.
While the movie is helmed by Sangeet P Rajan, the promo song is directed by Basil Joseph, who also plays the lead character in the movie along with Dileesh Pothan and Indrans. The song resembles the video of Arivu and Dhee’s Enjoy Enjaami, but instead of the adult actors, it has children rapping and dancing to the tune of Mandi Mandi, and a narrative focusing on a fashion show for domestic animals.
We get introduced to a lot of trendy characters including Meenachi the cat, Quackmmol Punnamada the duck, Kingini the goat, Peepay Vellachi the pig and ‘the heartbeat of Kudiyanmala’ Mollykutty. Composed by Justin Varghese and rendered by Tanvi and Drisya Anil, the song features a lot of young social media influencers including Vriddhi Vishal, Sama aka Pathu, Jess Sweejan, Ameya Thumbi, Alluppan and Sankaran.
The movie, which is written by Vinoy Thomas and Anish Anjali, also has Johnny Antony, Shammi Thilakan, Shruti Suresh, Jayakurup, Athira Harikumar, Thangam Mohan and Steffy Sunny as part of the cast.
Paltu Janwar was earlier announced as an Onam release. With the release of the song, its producers – Fahadh Faasil, Dileesh Pothan and Syam Pushkaran – have also announced its release date – September 2.
This means that the film will clash with Nivin Pauly’s Padavettu and Kunchacko Boban and Arvind Swami’s Ottu in theatres. While Padavettu is a socio-political thriller, Ottu is an action thriller. Palthu Janwar is a comedy-drama.
The other films set for Onam release this year are Biju Menon’s Oru Thekkan Thallu Case and Siju Wilson’s historical action-thriller Pathonpathaam Noottaandu – both of which are expected to hit theatres on September 8.
