Days after Amazon Prime Video made it official that Panchayat will be back for season two, the makers have unveiled the release date. The streaming giant shared the show’s release date on their official social media handles, and the new season will start streaming this month.

While sharing the news on their social media, the makers also unveiled a new poster for the series. The poster shows Jitendra Kumar as Abhishek Tripathi, looking weary indeed sitting amidst stacks of papers and files in the panchayat office. Part of the post’s caption reads, “janhit mein jaari, ab aa rahi hai firse, panchayat dekhne ki baari.”

Season 2 of Panchayat will start streaming on Amazon Prime Video from May 20, 2022.

The streaming giant also shared the exciting news on their official Twitter handle.

The series revolves around the story of Abhishek, an engineering graduate, who finds himself working at the panchayat office in a remote village when he fails to find a job better suited to his qualifications. But the man’s mundane life starts to become interesting when things get heated up in the village’s political scenario. In addition to Jitendra Kumar, the series also stars Raghubir Yadav, Neena Gupta, Chandan Roy, Faisal Malik and Sanvikaa.

The series is helmed by Deepak Kumar Mishra from a script written by Chandan Kumar. Arunabh Kumar has bankrolled the film under the banner of TVF.

The new season of Panchayat was announced by Amazon Prime Video at its special event called See Where it Takes You, held in Mumbai recently. At the event, hosted by Karan Johar, the streaming giant announced 41 titles expected to make its way onto its platform in the next 24 months.
