The fourth season of Panchayat will bring back the Phulera universe, which has become a mainstay in Indian homes, following the success of the first three. Fans can anticipate the return of the show's signature blend of subtle comedy, local politics, and interpersonal drama in the upcoming season.

Beloved ensemble cast anchors the story

Following the events of Season 3, Phulera's political and social climate undergoes a transformation as the fourth season begins. The fate of the village is now more at risk than ever before as the animosity between Pradhanji and Bhushan escalates. The creators have promised "quadruple the drama, laughter, and chaos," along with some truly moving moments.

Writer Chandan Kumar on the show’s layered evolution

Writer Chandan Kumar said in a statement that the story of Panchayat has evolved steadily over the past three seasons, and it continues to unfold in surprising and meaningful ways. He shared that every season is like removing a layer of an onion; behind the surface, there are a lot of complicated dynamics and emotions at work. Kumar also added that Phulera evolves from a mere setting into a vibrant, ever-changing universe teeming with joy, sorrow, politics, and subtle metamorphosis with each new layer.

Director Deepak Kumar Mishra reflects on tone and growth

That was also a point made by director Deepak Kumar Mishra, who emphasised the significance of maintaining the show's tone and characters. He said that the genuineness of 'Panchayat' is the key to its success. They set out to create a world that feels authentic and lived-in from the very beginning, and they have only succeeded in making that goal a reality with each passing season. For them, the first season was more personal, focusing on feelings and material possessions. Season 2's extended narrative due to the Phulera election forced them to decide whether to introduce new characters or develop our existing cast. The plot and Deepak's personal liking for Bhushan, aka Banrakas, propelled him to a logical climax. Thus, for them, writing became more difficult as the novel progressed, particularly when dealing with delicate plot points like character deaths. However, it was always essential for the makers to maintain the show's tone. Therefore, the characters' development has been natural, and their experiences have begun to impact the plot significantly. The battle between Bhushan and Pradhanji is far from done!

New season co-directors Deepak Kumar Mishra and Akshat Vijaywargiya join forces with creator Chandan Kumar. Fans in India are eagerly awaiting the return of "Panchayat" for Season 4, and the show is poised to maintain its status as a fan favourite.
