The new season of the Amazon Prime Video series, Panchayat was something that the fans were really looking forward to and much to their delight, the makers have already released the new set of episodes. Created by The Viral Fever, the show features Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Biswapati Sarkar, Faisal Malik, Chandan Roy and Pooja Singh. Season 1 of the comedy-drama series had ended on a cliffhanger moment and everyone's excited to find what unfolds in the new season.

The streaming giant recently dropped a video, Panchayat Pe Charcha with the lead actor, Jitendra Kumar where he talks about the show and the reason why he decided to do it. Shot at the top of the tank in the Phulera village of Uttar Pradesh, where the show is based, Jitendra Kumar reveals that it was the concept of the show that he found interesting. As the OTT space started booming, there weren't too many stories that dealt with the concept of village life. He further talks about what was his first thought when he visited Phulera. He admits that since he has been living in a city for over a decade, he had assumed that villages would lack any development but he was surprised to find that it wasn't so.

The makers have cleverly included the bits from Season 1, which complement the responses of the actor well in the video.

In a statement, the actor had earlier said that he found the character, Abhishek Tripathi relatable as he had grown up in a small town himself. But Abhishek’s challenge was bigger, he said, as the protagonist had to transition into rural life.

Panchayat revolves around the story of Abhishek Tripathi, an engineering graduate who is forced to take a job at a panchayat office in a remote village of Phulera as he is unable to find a job, more suited to his qualifications. But as he befriends people of the village and the political life takes a turn, his otherwise mundane life gets interesting.

Written by Chandan Roy, the show is directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and produced by Arunabh Kumar under the banner of TVF. The music for the series is composed by Anurag Saikia and the cinematography is by Amitabh Singh.
