Pankaj Kapur and Dimple Kapadia will soon be seen opposite each other in the romantic comedy-drama Jab Khuli Kitaab, directed by actor-filmmaker Saurabh Shukla.
The film is an adaptation of Shukla's theatre play of the same name. He is producing along with Applause Entertainment and producer Naren Kumar’s Shoe Strap Films.
Jab Khuli Kitaab will follow an older couple who seek a divorce after being together for 50 years.
"The film deals with the dysfunctionality of relationships and its impact on family, with dollops of humour and heart. The high energy repartee and the multi-generational family dynamics at the forefront also makes this the rare Hindi comedy that is both universal and intimate," is the synopsis teased by the makers, as quoted by PTI.
Joining Kapur and Kapadia in the cast are Aparshakti Khurana, Samir Soni and Nauheed Cyrusi.
"We all say that one should be transparent and clean in any relationship but how many of us are open to face the truth in our own relationships? The film is a rom-com with a couple in their 70s. Y “You see them doing what any teenager will do in their relationships. The film is a joyride where you laugh, fall in love and cry with this unique couple. I’m thankful to Sameer Nair for supporting me and making this happen," said Shukla in a statement.
Jab Khuli Kitaab is set in Uttarakhand and recently finished its start-to-end schedule in Ranikhet.
Kapadia was last seen in Christopher Nolan's espionage thriller Tenet and is also part of Ayan Mukerji's magnum opus Brahmastra. Meanwhile, Kapur's next release is Jersey, a Hindi remake of the 2019 Telugu film of the same name led by Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur.
