Actor Arya released the trailer of director Anucharan's much-awaited entertainer Panni Kutty, recently. The film features comedians Yogi Babu and Karunakaran in the lead.
Lyca Productions, which is bankrolling Panni Kutty, shared the link to the trailer on its Twitter handle.
Panni Kutty has been cleared for release by the Censor Board of Film Certification with a clean 'U'. The trailer gives away the fact that the story revolves around a piglet owned by Yogi Babu's character.
Notably, the film has a host of comedians playing pivotal roles including well-known Tamil orator and comedian Dindugal Leoni, who will be making a comeback to Tamil cinema after almost 20 years.
Leoni plays a character called Kodangi in the film. The theatrical rights of Panni Kutty for Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka have been acquired by Dr Prabhu Thilak's 11:11 productions.
Shot by cinematographer Sathish Murugan, Panni Kutty has music by K and has been edited by director Anucharan (of Suzhal: The Vortex fame) himself.
In an interview with the Hindu, Yogi Babu said, unlike others in comedy, he does not write his tracks. "Luckily for me, directors come to me with a definite storyline. All I have to do is follow their lines and improvise at times."
When asked about his hairstyle that seems to have attracted somewhat of a cult following, the comedian told Cinema Express that his hair acts more than him. “People laugh more at my hairstyle than my acting. It’s a huge plus for me. Neraya peru athey koluthanumnu suthuranga. (laughs) If that happens, I think I’ll shave it all off and turn to doing rowdy roles!”
Meanwhile, Yogi Babu, whose latest release was Arun Vijay's Yaanai, will be seen in several films such as Kasethan Kadavulada, Naane Varuven, Jawaan, Medical Miracle and Varisu, among others, that are in various stages of production.
