Bengali actor Parambrata Chatterjee dons the look of an elderly cleric for his role in Saptaswa Basu’s upcoming film ‘Jotugriho. The actor has been making quite a buzz with his grey-haired look, all the more since this is the first time the Chotushkone actor is essaying an elderly character in his career. According to a TOI report, the actor-filmmaker will play a sexagenarian priest called Joseph.

Saptaswa Basu told the daily that he is thrilled to onboard Parambrata in the role of a local church priest in Nishadgunj, where the story of the film is set in. He added that Parambrata’s character is well-respected in the community. When Rehan, played by Bonny, comes to the town and is inquisitive about the history of the place, Joseph guides him around and mentors him. “The character is really interesting with many layers,” said Saswata, terming his character as important to the plot. Without letting on any more details, he added, “The audience can be assured of a lot of surprises.”

The director is happy with the response to the intriguing teaser of the film that dropped very recently.

A young man sets foot in the misty, mysterious hilly town as a hotel manager and boards in a vintage mansion. An inexplicable energy seems to be eyeing him that has latched onto the shadows and darkness of the mansion, which can be safely said, is spooky. Rehan meets a local girl but soon supernatural happenings do the talking, beckoning at the secrets of the town through nerve-wracking twists and turns. To top it all, the chilling refrain of the nursery rhyme Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star’, originally written by Jane Taylor accentuates the eerie atmosphere, sending chills down your spine.

The film also features Bonny Sengupta, Payel Sarkar, and Piyali Sengupta as part of the cast.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Parambrata will also play the titular role of Gouranga in Srijit Mukherjee’s next, Lawho Gouranger Naam Re, which is based on Sri Chaitanya’s life. He will also feature in Srijato’s directorial debut in the romantic comedy Manabjamin.
