The latest Tamil crime drama Paramporul, starring Sarathkumar and Amithash, is set to make its OTT debut next week. Aha has announced that the movie will start streaming on its platform on October 24.
Paramporul was written and directed by debutant C. Aravind Raj. The movie was released in cinemas on September 1 and garnered favourable reviews from the critics.
Paramporul received good reviews
Despite good reviews, Paramporul didn't make a dent at the box office. The film recreates the same magic of Sarathkumar's previous release Por Thozhil in cinemas. Por Thozhil was also released under similar circumstances.
Por Thozhil was also written and directed by debutant director Vignesh Raja. And it starred Sarathkumar in the lead, along with Ashok Selvan. The movie also received a soft release with not many in the trade hoping for the movie to do any wonders in terms of collections.
|Star cast||Sarathkumar and Amithash|
|Director||C. Aravind Raj|
|OTT release date||October 24|
However, things changed for Por Thozhil soon after its release. The glowing reviews and the strong word-of-mouth ensured its global success, becoming one of the big hits in Tamil cinema this year.
However, the good reviews failed to help Paramporul find success at the box office. It remains to be seen whether it can reach a wider audience following its digital debut.
Judging from the trailer, Paramporul promises an edge-of-the-seat, no-frills thriller, It's safe to assume that the movie revolves around the unlikely partnership between a high-ranking police officer and a petty thief. Sarathkumar essays the seasoned cop, who forms an off-the-book alliance to make some quick money. The duo chance upon an antic idol worth lakhs and tempted to sell it to the highest bidder. However, as expected things get complicated when the cop gets involved with the men he was supposed to be fighting against.
Paramporul also stars Kashmira Pardeshi, Balaji Sakthivel and T. Siva in the supporting role.
