Parasakthi clears censor formalities; Sivakarthikeyan gets solo Pongal opening as Jana Nayagan stands postponed

After Vijay’s Jana Nayagan faced censor issues and stand postponed, another Tamil film slated for Pongal release, Parasakthi, also faced similar issues. However, the Sivakarthikeyan-starrer has now cleared censors and has received U/A certificate. It is now on track for release on January 10, worldwide.

Did Parasakthi complete censor?

Parasakthi, the upcoming Tamil film starring actor Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role, had been facing hurdles over the past few days, given the film did not receive censor certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). However, just a day before the release of Parasakthi, the makers succeeded in completing the formalities.

As per the makers, Parasakthi has secured U/A, making it a film that can be watched by all above age 16 with adult supervision. It has a runtime of two hours and 42 minutes. On that note, Parasakthi will be capitalising the weekend box office, given Jana Nayagan is not released.

Parasakthi is a period political drama set in 1965. It is inspired from real-life events and revolves around the anti-Hindi agitations that took place over the language imposition in Tamil Nadu. The ideology plays a huge role in the political landscape of Tamil Nadu, which is entwined with cinema, historically.

Who are there in Parasakthi cast and crew?

Parasakthi is headlined by Sivakarthikeyan and is directed by filmmaker Sudha Kongara. Apart from him, the cast also includes Sreeleela playing the female lead in her Tamil debut, and Ravi Mohan as the antagonist. Atharvaa Murali essays the role of Sivakarthikeyan’s younger brother. After Amaran, GV Prakash will be once again teaming up with Sivakarthikeyan to score music, and also marking his 100th album. Meanwhile Parasakthi is the actor’s 25th outing. It is to be noted that Parasakthi was initially mounted with Suriya, Dulquer Salmaan, Vijay Varma and Nazriya, as Purananooru. However, it later got reshuffled with the new cast.
