Parasakthi release date out: Sivakarthikeyan film locks Pongal 2026; to come just a few days after Jana Nayagan

Parasakthi, the upcoming Tamil film headlined by actor Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role, is all set to release in theatres soon. The makers have officially announced that the period drama will release on January 14. It is to be noted that Parasakthi is coming close on heels with the release of Vijay’s much-anticipated Jana Nayagan scheduled to release on January 9.

Parasakthi, the upcoming period drama is finally set to see the light of day in coming months. The film which has Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role, is all set to make its theatrical debut on January 14, for the occasion of Pongal. Parasakthi is the 25th film of Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan, written and directed by Sudha Kongara.

The film features Sreeleela in her Tamil debut, Atharvaa, and Ravi Mohan in prominent roles alongside Sivakarthikeyan. Ravi Mohan will be playing the antagonist, making it first time in his career. The technical crew of Parasakthi includes GV Prakash Kumar for music, Ravi K. Chandran handling cinematography, Sathish Suriya editing, and Supreme Sundar choreographing action.

It is to be noted that Parasakthi was first mounted and announced under a different title with Suriya planned to play the lead. Actors Nazriya Fahadh, Dulquer Salmaan and Vijay Varma. However, Suriya along with his production banner, stepped down the project and subsequently went through a re-casting and new production. The film is set in the 60s and will be about anti-Hindi agitations.

Parasakthi to clash with Jana Nayagan

Parasakthi is coming a few days after the release of Vijay’s final film Jana Nayagan. The latter is arriving on January 9 in theatres and is an important film given it marks Vijay’s farewell to cinema before he joins full-time politics. Parasakthi is coming about a week later after Jana Nayagan. The Vijay-starrer is helmed by filmmaker H Vinoth.
