This New Year brings a myriad of OTT debuts and one of them is the renowned face of the Oscar-winning movie Parasite, Song Kang Ho. The new series is slated for release in 2024 on the streaming platform Disney+Hotstar. Written and directed by Shin Yeon Shick, the upcoming series unveiled the faces of the stellar cast and spiked the expectations of the viewers.

The new television drama Uncle Sam Sik is bringing the magic of Parasite actor, as he is slated to make a thriving debut as the lead in Disney’s upcoming Korean drama. The cast also includes other prominent actors, like Byun Yo Han and Lee Kyu Hyung.

In the cast lineup confirmation, Song Kang Ho’s name sparked excitement among the viewers as Uncle Sam Sik marks his first project on the TV screen after getting his name cemented in the film industry. According to the reports, Uncle Sam Sik is a 16-episodic period drama with the dual contribution of Shin Yeon Shick as both the writer and the director. The series is slated to be unveiled in the first half of 2024; however, no official date has been confirmed as of now.

It chronicles the story of ancient 1960s Korea, when a rebellious idealist embarks on the mission to bring a positive revolt to his country. His deeds attract a smart fixer who is competent in handling any situation and prepared to go above and beyond to help his boss get closer to goals.

Cast of Uncle Sam Sik

Song Kang Ho portrays the titular character of the cunning fixer Pak Doochill/Uncle Sam Sik.  While Byun Yo Han (star of Mr. Sunshine, Six Flying Dragons) plays Kim San, a young student of the Korea Military Academy with the honours of the Albright scholarship,.

Lee Kyu Hyung and Seo Hyun Woo take the roles of leadership contender Kang Sung Min and Jeong Han Min, an army soldier.

On the work front, the lauded actor has given his best in several Korean films like the Academy Award-winning Parasite, Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet, Snowpiercer, Memories of Murder, and The Russian Novel.
