Paresh Rawal already apologised for offending people's feelings with his statements after facing anger online. In a tweet, he clarified, "Of course, the fish is not the issue as Gujaratis do cook and eat fish. But let me clarify by Bengali I meant illegal Bangladeshi N Rohingya. But still, if I have hurt your feelings and sentiments I do apologise (folded hands emoji)."

Paresh made the initial remarks during a campaign rally in Gujarat, as reported by news agency PTI, "Gas cylinders are expensive, but their price will come down. People will get employment too. But what will happen if Rohingya migrants and Bangladeshis start living around you, like in Delhi? What will you do with gas cylinders? Cook fish for the Bengalis?"

On the work acting front, Paresh Rawal was last seen in Sharmaji Namkeen where he completed Rishi Kapoor's remaining portions. In his last role, Rishi Kapoor appeared in the Hitesh Bhatia-directed movie opposite Juhi Chawla, Suhail Nayyar, Isha Talwar, and Taaruk Raina, among others.

The actor's next project will be Shehzada, an upcoming action-drama movie starring Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon. In Dream Girl 2 with Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday, Paresh Rawal also stars. The movie is produced by Ektaa Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor under the auspices of Balaji Telefilms Limited and is helmed by Raaj Shaandilya. The planned release date is July 7, 2023.
