After Kangana Ranaut's unsuccessful covert mission in Dhaakad, Parineeti Chopra provides us with another female snoop to cheer for. The long-repressed female presence in the spy thriller genre is finally broken with Code Name: Tiranga. The actor told Mid Day that this is her response to the criticism that there isn't a female Bond, and that it was time to make an action movie.

In the upcoming film directed by Ribhu Dasgupta, she plays undercover agent Durga, who is tasked with eliminating one of India's most wanted terrorists. Chopra takes the lead in the spy thriller, with Harrdy Sandhu playing her romantic interest. She made the film in an effort to dispel the myth that women can't be shoulder-mounted actioners.

She further told the tabloid that there was a period when they sought out female actors who could portray a particular type of role. Heroines were enlisted to emphasise the impact of the hero. Today's audience has different expectations, and they all want to play these roles as female performers, but there has to be demand before there is a supply. The actor, who has strived to include a variety of films in her filmography, such as Meri Pyaari Bindu (2017) and Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar (2021), says that studios are now willing to spend a lot of money on such content when the audience wants to watch it.

Chopra is under criticism because he was one of the pioneers in this field. She prepared thoroughly for the movie by learning Krav Maga and engaging in hand-to-hand fighting. The actor believes it is her duty to communicate the narrative as effectively as she can in order to encourage more producers to back female-led action films.

The actor is aware that Code Name: Tiranga will be carefully scrutinised. She's optimistic that the movie will spark discussion, though it might not work for everyone. No matter what happens, Chopra will make another action movie. She doesn't want the industry to avoid making such films any longer. They are unsure of the audience numbers they will draw in during these trying times for cinema. But this Friday won't make her less eager to make groundbreaking movies.

Code Name: Tiranga is slated to hit the big screens on October 14, 2022.
