Director Ramkumar Balakrishnan has been elated for a couple of days now, given his directorial debut Parking has won the National Film Award for Best Film Tamil, along with two other awards. The director is next working with multi-faceted personality Silambarasan. While there have been speculations that the film is dropped and not happening, Ramkumar gave an update about the project, which is tentatively called STR 49.
STR 49 update: Parking director talks about the Simbu project
We had earlier reported that Parking director Ramkumar Balakrishnan, will be making his sophomore film with Simbu. The film was launched as STR 49. However, ever since it was announced, not much about the project and its update have come out with many saying that the film is dropped.
In a recent conversation with Galatta, Ramkumar Balakrishnan talked about the Simbu project. "I had the pressure even after my first film Parking. I had taken some time to work on it, and with the National Film Award, it has only increased. But I was clear that I do not compromise on the writing. The work is going on, but it has got a little delayed." Ramkumar said it is college-based entertainer, and will have some "hero element with director's touch". The filmmaker further said that it will be a movie that will connect with youngsters.

Ramkumar’s Parking won three National Film Awards announced recently. Besides being awarded the Bes Film in Tamil, Ramkumar won for the screenplay, while MS Bhaskar won for best supporting actor.
Parking, co-starring Harish Kalyan, is available for streaming on JioHotstar via OTTplay Premium subscription. The film revolves around the ego clash between a young man and much older person who have a tiff because of a parking lot. The film opened to positive reception upon its release, and had received good critical reviews as well.
