In the recasting of HBO's The Last Of Us, park and recreation actor Nick Offerman has been cast in the role of Bill. As per reports in Variety, a source close to the situation said Con O'Neill, who was set to guest star, was forced to drop out due to a scheduling conflict.

Reports have it that Bill, played by Offerman, and Frank, played by Murray Bartlett, will be two post-pandemic survivalists living alone in their own isolated town. The HBO series, based on the popular PlayStation video game of the same name, takes place 20 years after modern civilisation has been wiped out by a deadly fungus.

The premise further states that Joel, a seasoned survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie out of a suffocating quarantine zone. What begins as a small job quickly turns into a brutal, heartbreaking journey as they both must traverse the United States and rely on each other for survival.

Joel's brother Tommy, Nico Parker plays Joel's daughter Sarah, and Merle Dandridge reprises her video game role as Marlene, the leader of the Fireflies resistance group fighting the government's military regime for power.

Offerman is perhaps best known for his seven-season starring role as Ron Swanson in the comedy series Parks and Recreation. The actor and his Parks and Recreation co-star Amy Poehler co-host the competition series Making It, for which they have received two Emmy nominations for best hosts of a reality competition.

Other recent TV appearances by Offerman include Devs and Colin in Black & White on Netflix. He'll be seen next in Pam & Tommy and the A League of Their Own series.
