The first single and teaser from Parthiban's Iravin Nizhal was launched at a star-studded event in Chennai on Sunday. The single was released in the presence of the film's music composer AR Rahman. Parthiban also had an interaction session with AR Rahman.
It was at this time that Parthiban realised that his microphone was not working. When comedian Robo Shankar asked him to hand over the microphone to him, Parthiban completely lost his cool and flung the mike at him, while uttering, "You should have asked this before." Rahman, who was taken aback for a moment, was speechless. Parthiban's act left everyone in the audience shocked. Later, Parthiban apologised for the incident and said that he was under tremedous pressure following many sleepless nights as he was prepping for the event and the film and think he didn't think it through.
Iravin Nizhal is billed as India's first non-linear single shot film. The film traces the life of the protagonist that spans over 50 years. The star cast comprises Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, Robo Shankar, Priyanka Ruth, Brigida Saga, Sneha Kumar, Anand Krishnan, and Chandru to name a few.
The film and the unique attempt has come for praise from the industry folks. Pathu Thala director Obeli Krishna, who recently watched the film, wrote on his social media page, "Fortunate to watch Parthiban sir's 'Iravin Nizhal'. No words to praise his art and dedication. A R Rahman sir's BGM gives life and engagement. Loved Arthur Wilson's camera and art direction. Big salute to the team. It's going to be curriculum for film makers, real single shot movie."
Director Seenu Ramasamy, too, shared, "It is the first Asian Tamil film without an editor. It is the first non-linear single shot film in which Parthiban has acted and directed others. The film is a light house to Tamil cinema."
