With his most recent movie, Pathaan, which was helmed by Siddharth Anand, Shah Rukh Khan restored the much-needed heat to Bollywood. Since its January 25 release, the spy-thriller has been breaking records. After a startling Rs 57 crore opening, the movie made Rs 70 crore on its second day, Rs 39 crore on its third day, and then it picked up again over the weekend with Rs 53 crore. On Sunday, the film collected 58.50 cr making the total a whopping 271 cr in India alone. Pathaan's box office take over the extended weekend has surpassed the Rs 270 crore mark; its overall take will set records. Pathaan surpassed KGF 2 and the Hindi version of Baahubali 2, which reached the milestone to become the fastest movie in history to gross 200 crore rupees.
With a record-breaking Rs 57 crore opening day in India and a record-breaking opening weekend, Pathaan has already smashed numerous records. The movie is currently aiming to surpass Dangal's Rs 387 cr record as the highest-grossing Hindi movie of all time. Pathaan is not only breaking box office records domestically, but also globally, with the movie earning an astounding Rs 429 crore in just four days of release.
With Pathaan, Shah Rukh Khan proved that he is back with a bang. Zero, Fan, and Jab Harry Met Sejal, three of his previous flicks, were box office duds. It's also good news for Bollywood, which had few blockbusters last year and few films grossing above Rs 200 crore.
Yesterday, in a moment of gratitude, Shah Rukh Khan waved to a sea of fans, who waited outside his house, Mannat. He shared the video on his Twitter account and wrote, “Mehmaan Nawaazi Pathaan ke ghar par… Thank u all my Mehmaans for making my Sunday so full of love. Grateful. Happy. Loved.”
