The age of the superstars is well & truly back in Indian cinema as Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan continues to make waves at the box office. The Siddharth Anand directorial opened in theatres on January 25th amid insurmountable hype and hysteria and boy, has the film lived up to the expectations or what! The film recently joined the elite Rs. 500 crore club with respect to worldwide collections and is now looking extremely well placed to breach several other records in its pursuits for all-time glory.
This would also mean that certain other films would be dethroned and as per the latest trade reports, the Hindi version of Prashanth Neel's K.G.F: Chapter 2 has had to concede its position in a specific category. According to Box Office India, KGF 2 (Hindi) held the top position on the list of top grossers in the opening week of release with collections of more than of Rs. 250 crores to its name. The dubbed version of the Kannada film surpassed the likes of Baahubali: The Conclusion (Hindi), Tiger Zinda Hai, War, and many others to own the spot but it would seem Rocky Bhai, too, has been swept up by the Pathaan storm.
Box Office India also shares that Pathaan has already collected close to Rs. 294 crores domestically (nett) which, technically, makes it the highest-grossing Indian film in the first week of release. With Tuesday, January 31st, being the seventh day of Pathaan's theatrical run, the film is more than likely to conclude the opening week with box office earnings of more than Rs. 310 crores.

Regardless, it is apparent that big-ticket films are back to rule the cinema halls and going by the results of the past 12-odd months, the standards are evolving in an unprecedented manner.
