Pathaan’s action director reveals the similarities between Shah Rukh Khan and Tom Cruise

Shah Rukh Khan proved that his title as the ‘Badshah of Bollywood’, remains unshakeable, with his return to the big screen with Pathaan. The action entertainer turned out to be a blockbuster indeed, becoming the highest grossing Hindi film of all time. The film’s producer Aditya Chopra spared no expense in bringing the spectacle to the screen, even roping in popular Hollywood action director Casey O’Neill to choreograph the action sequences. Casey has worked extensively with Hollywood legend Tom Cruise, in films like Jack Reacher, Top Gun: Maverick and the Mission Impossible film series. The action director recently opened up about the similarities he observed between SRK and Tom.

According to a report in Pinkvilla, Casey spoke of how both of them were not only skilled professionals in their craft, but were also incredibly talented as well. On Tom, Casey said that the former was fearless and lived and breathed his craft, pushing the envelope to entertain audiences. The action director revealed that Shah Rukh was the same way.

Casey said that SRK has not only pushed his body to the limit, but had also learnt and unlearnt action sequences to make Pathaan an entertainer like none other. The former called Tom and SRK driven and dedicated cinema lovers who are willing to do whatever it takes to make audiences happy. “It was a pleasure working with another global movie star like Shah Rukh Khan and seeing him transform into an action star that no one has ever seen before”, Casey said.

He went on to talk about how Shah Rukh was not only an exceptional performer, but also a skilled athlete as well. The action director lauded SRK for his ability to adapt to different action sequences and called him a ‘true gentleman and an amazing actor’.

Pathaan was released in theatres on January 25, 2023.
