It’s official! Director Vinayan’s much-anticipated big-budget historical movie Pathonpathaam Noottaandu is all set to hit theatres this Onam season. The filmmaker took to his social media page on Saturday to make the big announcement about the movie, which has Siju Wilson, Sudev Nair and Kayadu Lohar in the lead.
In his social media post, the director, who is making his comeback with the film, announced that the movie will release in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi during Onam in September this year. “It will reach theatres as a pan-Indian movie,” he wrote.
Vinayan thanked his team for all the effort and time they put in over the last two years to complete it and extended his “heart-felt gratitude” to its producer Gokulam Gopalan for supporting the venture.
The period action drama, which also has Chemban Vinod Jose, Anoop Menon and Suresh Krishna in pivotal roles, revolves around the 19th century social reformer and Ezhava chieftain Arattupuzha Velayudha Panicker, essayed by Siju. Kayadu will be making her Malayalam debut with the film through the role of Nangeli, while Anoop Menon and Poonam Bajwa will be seen essaying the roles of the king and queen of Travancore.
The movie’s production had wrapped up last year and the team had been busy with the post production for the past nine months. In an earlier interview with us, Sudev, who plays the antagonist Padaveedan Nambi, the deputy chief of the Travancore Army, in the film, had told us, “Vinayan sir has envisioned this film in a totally different way. Siju Wilson has worked really hard to achieve his transformation. He has been working day in and day out for the movie. But Vinayan sir also deserves huge credit for visualising that Siju can look like this and having full faith in him.”
Pathonpathaam Noottaandu is expected to clash with Nivin Pauly’s Padavettu, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Gold, Basil Joseph’s Paaltu Janwar, Biju Menon’s Oru Thekkan Thallu Case and Mammootty’s Rorschach during the Onam season at the box office.
