Despite "Layover" being the debut solo album of BTS member Kim Taehyung, also known as V, it has unexpectedly become a significant milestone in the career of his beloved pet dog, Yeontan. From the very moment the album was first teased, it became evident that Yeontan played a crucial role in the project.
This small four-legged companion, often seen in the company of V and other BTS members in behind-the-scenes photos and videos, suddenly captured the attention of ARMY with the release of the "Layover" album. Yeontan made his presence felt by gracing the album cover and appearing in concept photos. V went the extra mile by featuring a cosplayer representing Yeontan in his music videos.
While fans playfully referred to it as "Yeontan's debut," V took this idea seriously. On September 14, Yeontan actually made his official television debut, marking an unconventional milestone for a pet dog in the world of idol debuts. He joined V on the stage of Mnet's M COUNTDOWN while Taehyung performed the title track "Slow Dancing" from his album.
Yeontan's television debut was a massive hit, and just like any chart-topping artist, he became a trending topic of discussion online, generating some amusing reactions from ARMYs.
From being called the new "It Boy" in town to a "Nepo Baby" to even saying he has a father (V) as a very expensive manager, ARMY had a riot on social media.
About Layover:
On September 8, V celebrated his solo debut with "Layover." In the lead-up to the album's full release, Kim Taehyung unveiled three tracks, namely "Scenery," "Winter Bear," and "Snow Flower," on August 28 as part of the pre-release schedule.
These songs acted as prelude releases and he continued to release music videos for "Love Me Again," "Rainy Days," "Slow Dancing," "Blue," and the most recent addition, "For Us."
His album's success soared to the highest heights, securing the top spot for first-week album sales by a K-Pop solo artist. Notably, one of the album's tracks, "Slow Dancing," achieved the remarkable feat of claiming the number-one position on the iTunes Top Songs charts in more than 75 different regions.
