Cinematographer PC Sreeram’s Twitter feed seems to be the best place for updates on Mani Ratnam’s upcoming Netflix anthology titled Navarasa. After Sreeram had last year announced that he was joining the project for a featurette that will be helmed by Gautham Menon, he has now confirmed that the anthology will drop on the OTT streamer in August.
Sreeram shared a photo of Suriya, who plays the lead in the vignette, further teasing his followers who have been ardently waiting for updates from the project that also features work of eight other filmmakers.
Suriya’s segment will mark his collaboration with Gautham, 13 years after their superhit Varanam Aayiram. Malayalam actress Prayaga Martin is also part of the featurette.
Navarasa is a star-studded anthology that is fashioned as a web series with nine standalone episodes. Directors Rathindran R Prasad, Priyadarshan, Bejoy Nambiar, Halitha Shameem, Karthik Subbaraj, Karthick Naren, Vasanth and actor Arvind Swami helmed the other eight episodes, based on the various emotions of navarasa. Arvind will also star in Karthick’s episode.
The project also has Siddharth, Parvathy, Vijay Sethupathi, Aditi Balan, Bobby Simha and Prasanna as part of the cast. Yogi Babu is reportedly the only actor who will be seen in more than one episode of the anthology, which has music by composers AR Rahman, Vishal Bhardwaj, Ghibran, D Imman and Aruldev.
