The official trailer for Peacemaker, the HBO Max series written and directed by filmmaker James Gunn, has been unveiled. The series, which begins on January 13, continues after the events of The Suicide Squad and follows the hero as he joins a new team while remaining someone who believes in peace, no matter how many people he has to kill to achieve it, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

However, the clip, which follows an earlier teaser introducing the team's members, suggests that this isn't always the case. Despite Clemson Murn's (Chukwudi Iwuji) urging, Peacemaker is hesitant to take out a target when there are children present. He tells Harcourt (Jennifer Holland), "I guess I'm having thoughts about things."

The premise of Peacemaker states that the origin of the DC superhero is so committed to world peace that he is willing to use force to bring it about.

In September, series creator Gunn informed reporters that Peacemaker was in the works and has a great deal to learn. For him, it's Peacemaker's ability to learn that makes him a little more likeable. The filmmaker added that his blind spots are pretty bad in certain locations, and he's also uninformed in others. That, too, he believes is a crucial point to establish, and he can be both open and closed at the same moment.

Peacemaker also stars Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Steve Agee, and Robert Patrick, in addition to Cena, Iwuji, and Holland.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gunn wrote and directed five of the eight episodes, including the series premiere. Along with Peter Safran and Matt Miller, he executive produces under his own Troll Court Entertainment. Cena is a co-executive producer of the film. Warner Bros. Television is in charge of the production.
