Peaky Blinders is a global sensation with fans around the world for the show as well as Cilian Murphy’s formidable Thomas Shelby. The series creator, Steven Knight recently gave an update on the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie at the BFI London Film festival.

The writer said that a feature film will wrap up the series and the story after the event of the upcoming season 6, according to Variety.

“And then I am going to write the feature which will be set in and shot in Birmingham,” Knight said at the panel. “And that will probably be the sort of the end of the road for Peaky Blinders as we know it.”

Knight also confirmed that the film will start production from 2023 and that the editing of the sixth season of the show is almost finished. The sixth season is slated to release sometime in 2022.

Peaky Blinders was revealed to its fans in 2014 and follows Thomas Shelby played by Cilian Murphy, the leader of the titular gang.

Set in the early 20th century war Birmingham, England following the first world, the show follows the growth of the gang as well as the ambitions and aspirations of Shelby.

The show also stars the late Helen McCrory, Paul Anderson, Sam Neill, Tom Hardy, Adrien Brody, and Anya Taylor-Joy.

The first five seasons of the fan-favourite show is available to stream on Netflix.
