Pennum Porattum release date: Rajesh Madhavan's acclaimed film to hit the big screen soon

Actor and director Rajesh Madhavan's first directorial, Pennum Porattum (translated to The Girl and the Fools Parade), will soon be released in theatres. Confirming this, an official poster was unveiled by the makers on January 1. Here's more about the film...

On February 6, the social satire will be released in theatres. So far, no other Malayalam films have announced their premiere on the same day. The film offers a distinct narrative realm that combines fantasy with the most unvarnished exploration of social themes. At major film festivals, such as the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) and the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), Pennum Porattum debuted to packed audiences from moviegoers.

Interestingly, the inclusion of more than 400 birds and animals, along with more than 100 newcomers, is one of the film's major highlights. A few well-known actors also provided their voices to the film. Ravishankar, who was the writing associate of Bheeshma Parvam and Rani Padmini, is the creator of the story, screenplay, and dialogue of Pennum Porattum. OTTplay Premium subscribers can watch both of these films. The technical team of Pennum Porattum include Sabin Uralikandi as the cinematographer and Chaman Chacko handling edit works. Dawn Vincent composed the music, and Vaishakh Sugunan wrote the lyrics for the soundtracks.

Plot of Pennum Porattum

The movie centres on the lives of three characters: Charulatha, a strong-willed woman who is coerced into marriage against her will by the village, including her lover, Baburaj; Suttu, Baburaj's dog, who is mistakenly accused of being violent; and Gopalan Master, a former leader who became an iconic figure in the village of Pattada. The story examines the cruel treatment that Charulatha and Suttu receive and the hysterical glorification of violence in the town. Eventually, Suttu decides to leave the village with the rest of the animals in the village.
