Ajay Devgn’s upcoming film Bhuj: The Pride of India will show the saga of Bhuj air base demolition by the enemies during the 1971 Indo-Pak war and its reconstruction by 300 local women from the nearby village under the leadership of IAF squadron leader Vijay Karnik.
The shoot of the film was scheduled in multiple parts of Gujarat, while a few crucial scenes were shot at Mandvi Airport during heavy monsoon, which was challenging for the makers. However, the residents of the village, who hadn’t received rain for almost four years, felt that Ajay and the entire team of the film brought luck to their land.
Speaking of the shooting at Mandvi Airport, director Abhishek Dudhaiya said in a statement that the entire team was locked in the airport for the shoot. “When we were shooting, we had been informed that there has been less to no rain in Mandvi for four years. After shooting for a few days, there was a massive downpour and we had to immediately stop shooting for a few days,” he added. He also revealed that later the villagers came on the set and thanked Ajay and the entire unit as they thought the film brought luck to the land.
Written by Abhishek Dudhaiya, Raman Kumar, Ritesh Shah and Pooja Bhavoria, Bhuj: The Pride of India also features Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt, Pranitha Subhash, Sharad Kelkar and Ammy Virk in significant roles.
The makers say that the upcoming war film is going to be a reminder of the immense bravery of not just the army but the courageous Indian women too. With spectacular action visuals, Bhuj: The Pride of India is set to release on Disney+ Hotstar on August 13.
