Pratik Gandhi and Patralekhaa are all set to be seen as Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule in the biographical film, Phule. After facing some delays, the film is finally set to hit theaters on April 25. This film focuses on their fight against caste discrimination, support for women's education, and efforts to develop marginalised communities. Highlighting historical figures

Phule will highlight the historical figures Jyotirao and Savitribai Phule. They worked towards social reforms, fought against casteism for women's education, established India's first school for girls, and advocated for the rights of marginalised communities.

Women empowerment

This film will shed light on women's empowerment as it will showcase the Phules' dedication to social change, their struggles to set a better life for women, and their ultimate triumph by challenging deeply entrenched social structures. The film has been garnering attention because of its captivating historical significance. 

Ensemble cast

Phule casts two talented actors in the lead roles - Pratik Gandhi and Patralekhaa. Pratik will portray Jyotirao, and while Patralekhaa will be seen as his wife, Savitribai Phule. The film also stars Darsheel Safary, Alexx O'Nell, Vinay Pathak, Joy Sengupta, and Richard Bhakti Klein. It will be interesting to see how they bring the characters to life.

Fight against cast discrimination

Jyotirao Phule fought against caste discrimination by advocating for education, establishing schools for marginalized communities, and establishing a truth-seeking society. He challenged the hypocrisy of the upper castes and advocated for a society based on equality and justice.

Ananth Mahadevan's direction 

Another reason to not miss Phule is the direction of Ananth Mahadevan. Known for films, such as Dil Maange More, The Xpose, The Storyteller, Aksar, and more, it will be interesting to see how he has brought the historical figures into life in Phule. 

Meanwhile, the film has undergone several dialogue changes, demanded by CBFC, such as: "Jaha kshudro ko... jhadu bandhkar chalna chahiye" was modified to "Kya yahi hamari... sabse doori banake rakhani chahiye." The line "3000 saal purani....gulami" has been modified to "Kai saal purani" and also a 43-second dialogue of "Yaha 3 M hai...Aur hum vahi karne ja rahe hai' was modified. 

Meanwhile, Phule, directed by Ananth Mahadevan, will hit theaters on April 25.
