Plagiarism row plagues Bengali television

This fall-winter is perhaps the season of new mega serials on different channels. While several new serials were introduced, the old ones are also competing with strong TRP ratings. Saheber Chithi is such a serial that is still popular. Debchandrima Sinha Roy and Pratik Sen play the protagonists here. The serial has a slot at 6.30 pm on Star Jalsa. At the same time, Zee Bangla shows the serial Khelna Bari. Now, fresh allegations are made against Saheber Chithi for plagiarising the story and the plot of Khelna Bari.

There is a new twist in Saheber Chithi. Chithi is kidnapped and sent to the red-light area. This is the bit that is allegedly copied by Khelna Bari, which features Biswajit Ghosh and Aratrika Maity as the protagonists. There is tough competition between these two serials regarding who will be the slot leader.  

Now the audience complains that the storyline of Khelna Bari is repeated in Saheber Chithi. Mitul was kidnapped by her stepbrother Ran's people and was sent to the red-light area where she was rescued by the hero. In Saheber Chithi, it is shown that Raima orchestrates the kidnapping of Chithi. She is also sent to the red-light area, as is apparent from the promo. The audience also alleges that this is not the first time. Previously, Saheber Chithi plagiarised some of the points from Khelna Bari.
