Play Back trailer: Dinesh Tej, Ananya Nagalla travel back and forth in time

The trailer of Dinesh Tej and Ananya Nagalla-starrer PlayBack was unveiled on OTT platform Aha’s YouTube channel recently and it promises both sci-fi and thriller elements.

In the trailer, Dinesh’s character receives a phone call on a dead landline. Resisting his instincts, he picks up the call only to learn about what happened in the past.

Play Back takes place in two timelines - 1993 and 2019. Although the film is a love story between Venkat (Arjun Kalyan) and Lakshmi (Ananya), the story has much more to it.

Dinesh’s character, in the trailer, through the call gets to know that he and his current girlfriend (Spandana) are now in two different timelines. And that he has actually been talking to his past lover, Lakshmi.

Lakshmi gets murdered in the past, most likely with her lover Venkat. However, if one thing in the present, 2019, can be changed, it could not only save the relationship but also her life. Talk about a mind-bending, time-travel plot!

The film, directed by Hari Prasad Jakka, will release on Aha on May 21. It also stars Karthikeya Krishna Malladi, Ashok Vardhan, TNR, Murthy and Chakrapani Ananda in pivotal roles.

Apart from direction, Hari has also written its screenplay. Kamran has composed the music for the film, edited by Bonthala Nageshwara Reddy.

The makers had released the Play Back teaser back in 2019. However, due to the COVID-19 lockdown, the film’s release was delayed, and is now a direct-to-OTT release.
