Ahead of the film’s release, Prime Video released the trailer of Playdate, featuring Kevin as Brian, a stay-at-home dad, out in the park with his son Lucas, when they run into what seems to be another father-son duo, Jeff and CJ. Shortly after this encounter, though, Brian and Jeff and the boys are on a run for their lives as they are chased by a bunch of mercenaries. And why is Brian in that situation? Simply because the killers think that “he knows”. What though?

According to the film’s official synopsis, Playdate follows recently unemployed accountant Brian (Kevin James) who agrees to a playdate with charismatic stay-at-home dad Jeff (Alan Ritchson) and their sons. What’s meant to be an easy afternoon of small talk and football tossing becomes a chaotic scramble to stay alive, as they are pursued by a ruthless team of mercenaries. Brian stumbles through one ridiculous obstacle after another, his zero tactical skills a stark contrast to Jeff’s oddly prepared demeanour.
Playdate also stars Banks Pierce, Benjamin Pajak, Isla Fisher, Alan Tudyk, Sarah Chalke and Stephen Root, Hiro Kanagawa, Lauren Akemi Bradley, Sarah Surh, Sabrina Dhowre Elba, Massiel Taveras, Miles Fisher and Peter New, among others.
*Playdate and other exciting titles on Amazon Prime Lite will also be available to existing OTTplay Premium subscribers with a top-up plan.*
