Ponman, the 2025 Malayalam film featuring actor and director Basil Joseph in the leading role, is now available for streaming. JioHotstar has bagged the streaming rights of the film, which can now be watched in various regional languages along with English subtitles.

After making hit film Minnal Murali as director, Basil Joseph began to concentrate on working as an actor and has delivered some notable performances in Malayalam films. His recent feature is the 2025 drama Ponman, which released in theatres in January. JioHotstar has bagged the streaming rights of the film which is now available to watch.
Ponman is directed by art director Jothish Shankar in his directorial debut. He has previously worked in films like Kumbalangi Nights, and Android Kunjappan Version 5.25, which are touted to be some of best Malayalam films in the recent times.
The film borrows its story from GR Indugopan’s novel Naalanchu Cheruppakar. Besides Basil Joseph, the film also stars Sajin Gopu, Lijomol Jose, Anand Manmadhan and Deepak Parambol, among others, in prominent roles.
What is Ponman about?
The film is set against the backdrop of Kollam and a gold dealer named PP Ajesh who lends gold jewellery for Bruno's sister Steffi’s marriage. After the promise to return, the gold is not adhered to, Ajesh has to confront Steffi’s husband to get the gold back. Along with Basil Joseph’s performance, the film too received positive responses upon its release. Produced by Vinayaka Ajith under Ajith Vinayaka Films banner, Sanu John Varghese has shot the film, and Nidhin Raj Arol is the editor. Justin Varghese has scored the music.
