It seems like Jayaram is the latest celebrity to lavish praises on Unni Mukundan’s most recent release Malikappuram. Jayaram recently watched the Vishnu Sasi Shankar directorial with his family in Chennai and had immediately rang up the filmmaker.

The Ponniyin Selvan actor was reportedly so impressed with the film that he had offered to dub portions that were narrated by megastar Mammootty in the movie. The film, scripted by Abhilash Pillai, begins with Mammootty’s narration and this is what Jayaram, a Ayyappa devotee, has agreed to do it for the Tamil version of the movie.

Malikappuram revolves around an eight-year-old girl named Kalyani’s journey to Sabarimala along with her friend and a stranger, who provides them protection during the pilgrimage. Unni Mukundan essays the role of the Good Samaritan stranger in the film, which is a family drama that has been doing well since its release on December 30 in Kerala.

The film is all set to release its Tamil and Telugu version on January 6 and will have its GCC release on January 5. In a recent interview with OTTplay, the film’s scriptwriter said the film was the toughest shoot that he was part of as the main locations included the forests and hills near Sabarimala.

Apart from Unni Mukundan, Malikappuram also has Manoj K Jayan, Ramesh Pisharody, TG Ravi, Sreejith Ravi and Saiju Kurup in pivotal roles. Child artistes Devanandha and Sripad essay the roles of Kalyani and Piyush, who decided to go on the pilgrimage without the help of any adult.

Meanwhile, Jayaram is apart of several big films in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. The actor is part of Samantha and Vijay Deverakonda’s Kushi and Ram Charan-Shankar film in Telugu as well as Shivarajkumar’s Ghost. He will also be part of Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan: 2, which is set hit theatres in April 2023.
